i don't write

i don't write
for my redemption
or salvation,
for money or fame,
i don't do it
for some ridiculous
illusion that poets
are somehow
desirable.
i don't
put letters
after one another
to seem smarter
or prettier,
like i'd have
great unique ideas
on anything
or a beautiful
mind.

i write simply
because the words
desperately
want to
spill
and spoil,
laugh and
love,
cry
and crave
and live on
and come out
be it on paper
or from mouths.
i release them
because i
love them
and thus
deserve
freedom
from
me.
